Consumer Reports Article Including Comment from Jay Levy

I’m pleased to share that I have been included in a Consumer Reports en Espanol article surrounding what to do if you feel you are a victim of age discrimination.  The article is also featured in the current print issue of the magazine and has been covered by El Diario as well.

 

Federal laws protect workers and applicants aged 40 and older against age discrimination with regard to decisions about hiring, firing, compensation, benefits, promotion and other working conditions in companies with more than 20 employees. That does not mean you cannot be fired, but your age cannot be the only reason. The burden of proof falls to you to demonstrate that it was, and that your dismissal to poor performance or a legitimate business reason was not due.  Therefore, if you suspect you are a victim of age discrimination, it is important to gather as much evidence as possible.
